Exploration, Engineered.

Powered by the EES QLD legacy

Kulhavn is an engineering-led adventure and expedition brand founded by Andrew Mitchell CPEng — built on 15+ years in engineering and project delivery, including a decade engineering Australia's coal port infrastructure, and a lifetime spent on the road. At home, that's a 79 Series LandCruiser with Travelander camper on some routes, a Suzuki DR650 on others, and an E-MTB for the ground nothing else reaches. Overseas, it's on foot, on borrowed wheels, and whatever the terrain calls for.

The name is Danish for "coal port" — ten years engineering Australia's coal export infrastructure, and a nod to pioneering Danish ancestry behind it.

Engineering legacy behind the brand
The concept

Engineering-led. Field-tested. Zero filler.

Kulhavn is built on a simple idea: combine genuine engineering experience, infrastructure curiosity and remote field travel into content worth following — not manufactured adventure, not lifestyle filler.

The riding is real, so the content is real. Every route is tracked on Relive, documented as it happens, and posted without the sentimentality. Terrain does the talking.

Engineering credibility is the differentiator — always present, never shouted. Kulhavn sits beside the EES QLD legacy, not in front of it.

This is a long build. Audience and content come first. Structure follows once there's something worth structuring.

01
Field, not fashion
Motorbike touring, overland travel and E-MTB riding across terrain chosen for what it actually demands — not for how it photographs.
02
Content that compounds
Every route produces Reels, stats and route data. That content builds a specific audience over time — engineers, project professionals, technically-minded travellers.
03
Ancestry, in the background
Every country on the route has a genuine family connection behind it. It's part of why these routes exist — more of that story surfaces over time.
04
A community that grows
The people who follow Kulhavn are engineers, builders, travellers and operators interested in field work and properly built adventure — not passengers.
The legacy

Powered by EES QLD.

Kulhavn does not replace EES QLD. It sits beside it.

EES QLD remains the serious engineering business — certification, project delivery, industrial consulting, RPEQ sign-off and client delivery. That legacy doesn't change.

Kulhavn is the public-facing expedition and infrastructure media brand that the EES QLD legacy makes credible. Without the engineering background, Kulhavn is just another travel account. With it, Kulhavn is something else — technically grounded and genuinely field-tested.

Founded by Andrew Mitchell CPEng, Principal Engineer of EES QLD. The credibility is real because the work is real.

EES QLD provides
Engineering credibility · RPEQ registration · project delivery background · industrial experience · professional authority
Kulhavn provides
Travel media · content production · brand partnerships · expedition storytelling · ancestry-driven route selection
Together
A credible engineering-led adventure brand that a generic lifestyle account can't replicate — because it doesn't have the field experience underneath it.
How it's built

Built properly. Built to last.

Kulhavn sits beside the existing engineering business, not in front of it — separated where it needs to be, and properly advised before anything commercial is committed to.

Kept separate
Media, travel and brand activity sit apart from EES QLD's engineering certification and professional indemnity exposure.
Properly advised
Nothing commercial gets committed to on assumption — real advice comes first, every time.
Audience first
The current focus is building a real following through genuine content. Commercial structure comes once there's something worth structuring.
The income model

How Kulhavn earns, over time.

The differentiator
Engineering credibility + field travel + content
CPEng credentials and 15+ years of real engineering experience create trust a generic lifestyle brand doesn't have. The content documents genuine field work.
The asset
A niche, engaged audience builds
Engineers, project managers, contractors and technically-minded travellers — a smaller, specific audience worth more to the right commercial partners.
Stream 1
Sponsorship
Route sponsorships and product placement with aligned technical and travel brands
Stream 2
Affiliate
Commission from gear, travel platforms and field equipment
Stream 3

Where Kulhavn goes

Ride it. Drive it. Film it.

Every route is planned around terrain, engineering interest and a genuine family connection to the country. In Australia, that's the 79 Series with Travelander or the DR650, depending on the leg, with the E-MTB for the ground nothing else reaches. Norway, Denmark and Ireland run on foot and local transport — terrain and ancestry drive the route, not the rig. Relive tracks every ride.

The setup

The rig. The bike. The trail.

Kulhavn Australia routes run on whichever rig actually suits the ground — never both at once. The 79 Series and Travelander go where range and camp matter most. The DR650 goes where a lighter, simpler bike gets further. The E-MTB handles the singletrack neither one can reach. Relive captures every ride.

01
79 Series + Travelander
LandCruiser 79 Series with Travelander camper. Carries camp, E-MTB, tools, camera gear, recovery kit and enough range to go places that don't have options.
02
Suzuki DR650
Light, simple, fixable anywhere and capable on dirt and bitumen equally. Runs on the routes where a smaller, nimbler bike makes more sense than the 79. Tracked on Relive.
03
E-MTB
For the trails nothing with an engine can reach. Carried on the Travelander when the 79 is on route. Every ride tracked on Relive and published.
